1. Select the desired annotation type, (such as a "text box"):
   
2. Place the annotation and then edit it to meet the desired size, shape and style (the Format tab can be used for colors and other style functions):
   
3. On the Format tab, click Style Tools > Make Current Properties Default.
   

Please note that if you are using the classic UI then the Format tab will not be available to you. In that case, you should instead right-click edited comments, then click Style Tools in the dropdown menu and select Make Current Properties Default to make the properties of the selected comment the default properties for subsequent comments of the same type.

Please note that this process does not include changes made to the text within annotations. Editing default text settings is covered in KB140

2. Use it to create an annotation and then edit it to meet the desired size, shape and style.
3. Right-click the annotation and click Properties. A dialog box will open.
4. Click the Advanced dropdown menu.
5. Click Set Current Appearance as Default.
